Wilderness First Aid (WFA)

Designed for outdoor enthusiasts who engage in half- or full-day trips in locations where cell phone coverage is reliable, and where advanced medical care is less than three hours away. Course provides an introduction to wilderness medicine focusing on general concepts, basic anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, assessment and treatment. The course meets on the Western New Mexico University Campus in Silver City, NM February 27, 28 and March 1, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Participants are required to attend the full training in order to receive certification.

NOTE: This course can no longer be used to partially fulfill a wilderness first responder re-certification. Current WFRs who need to recertify should register for the WFR/WEMT Recertification Course.
